ISAIAH

Health Care Reform Bus to DCISAIAH is an ecumenical coalition of some 90 congregations in the Metro and St. Cloud Areas working to build healthy and just communities. Isaiah works with church members and pastors to focus on three components of faith based organizing:

1. Intentional and Intensive Relationship Building
2. Development and Involvement of Lay Leadership
3. Effective Participation in the Public Area

Our faith tells us we are all part of one sacred body. Yet everywhere we look, our economic and political reality robs us of our dignity and leaves us increasingly divided and polarized. Isaiah congregations are actively working on matters of racial and economic equity to build healthy and just communities. What does that mean?
That means building communities where people of all colors and backgrounds have equal access to what many non-profits call the Big 5: jobs, transportation, education, healthcare, and affordable housing. Access to the Big 5 means access to opportunity.

FALL 2010

10,000 Voices for One Minnesota Campaign

In house meetings across Minnesota, Isaiah churches are bringing together 10,000 people so we can tell a new story about our state, our faith, and our future together. We are gathering church members and friends in 15 house meetings in homes and at St. Paul-Reformation so we can tell each other our true stories. We are talking about how our families have accessed opportunity or struggled to in previous generations and today.

Sharing our stories is a sacred act. It reminds us that we are God’s children, all of us. And we are called to live together in common care and concern for the “least of these” in our society. God calls us into community, where we are called to take personal and public responsibility to seek justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly.

St. Paul-Reformation members are those voices, who pray, hear the Word of God, practice the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, and go out from worship each week to “Serve God and all God’s creation.” Thanks be to God!
