Global ministry

The Church declares in the Creeds that it is part of "...one holy, catholic, and apostolic Church."  This means, of course, that we are not alone, nor are we the Church only in one place.  Bearing that in mind, St. Paul-Reformation is involved with international ministry partners in El Salvador and Nigeria.  These partnerships are foundational to our ministry together, and help us to remember the varied and diverse expressions of faith that are present around the world.  Would you like to learn more about how you can become involved?  Read about our work below - and then step up to the plate!

El Salvador Partnership

Every single year at St. Paul-Reformation, faithful partners and generous donors help to send over one hundred children to school at our sister parish (Cristo Libertador: "Christ the Liberator") in Nahualapa, El Salvador.  Working in partnership with the Lutheran Church of El Salvador, this program - now in its seventh year - partners members of SPR with children at our sister parish.  This partnership has resulted in several young people going on to college, and education can make the difference between a life that flourishes and a life lived in poverty.

This work is not charity.  It is, rather partnership, and delegations of members from SPR travel frequently to El Salvador, and members of Cristo Libertador have traveled to St. Paul.  We truly view our accompaniment as a journey that we are taking together.  Learn more about our work by viewing this short video.

Nigeria Partnership

St. Paul-Reformation partners with the Lutheran Church of Christ in Pella, Nigeria, and also works closely with Nigerian Lutherans studying at Luther Seminary in St. Paul.  In 2014, St. Paul-Reformation welcomed our brothers and sisters from Pella to join us for a week of learning, fellowship, and study.

Scholarship program
Education Making a
Difference

Every year, SPR sponsors over one hundred children in their studies through our partnership in El Salvador.  Ages range from Kindergarten through college.  Each child is sponsored for approximately $100/yr, a small price to contribute to making a difference.  Students write to members of SPR, and many have developed deep and long-lasting relationships with students whom they have sponsored.

Greetings from El Salvador!

We invite you to learn more about SPR's El Salvador Scholarship program by watching the brief video below:
