Sacred Music

Music is at the heart of Christian worship and stands as one of the most important religious expressions of the Lutheran tradition.  Lutherans have a very long history of fine music, and we take seriously our vocation to foster and maintain that tradition at St. Paul-Reformation.

Music in this community is led by the Cantor - a title that means "leader of assembly song."  The Cantor is Sr. Stacie Lightner, who conducts, plans, and rehearses the musical ensembles in this place.  SPR is home to:

The Chancel Choir

This is the regular adult choir of the parish that leads Sunday liturgies at 10.30 a.m. and on festival days.  The choir generally sings three times a month, and rehearses on Wednesdays from 7-9 p.m.  The choir sings a variety of music from Bach to contemporary compositions, and is chiefly charged with leading the liturgical parts of the liturgy.  If you can count to four, you can join!

Wings of Grace Handbell Choir

The parish handbell choir rehearses every Wednesday evening from 5-6 p.m., and generally plays once a month.  No experience is required, and...again...if you can count to four, you can join!

CHILDREN'S MUSIC

Children always have a place in worship, and several times a year, our "Vivace!" group of small ones will sing for worship.  You can learn more about Vivace! by clicking here.
